After determining that a quorum is present, the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas will convene in a Closed Meeting to consider the item listed below on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Work Session Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas, consistent Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, or as otherwise allowed by law.
A. Deliberation Regarding Certain Public Power Utilities Competitive Matters - Under Texas Government Code Section 551.086; Consultation with Attorneys - Under Texas Government Code Section 551.071 Discuss and deliberate the City’s ability to purchase and sell power; receive a presentation from staff regarding financial matters and risk management information pertaining to the purchase and sale of energy during a declared state and local disaster in response to an extreme weather event and utility service outages; consultation with City’s attorneys regarding legal issues associated with pricing information, risk management, and contracts where discussions of these legal matters in an open meeting would conflict with the duty of the City’s attorney’s to the City of Denton and the Denton City Council under Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas.
A. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction on funding the purchase and sale of electricity during a declaration of state and local disaster in response to an extreme weather event and utility service outages.
