After determining that a quorum is present, the Planning and Zoning Commission will convene a Work Session on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 05:06 PM in the City Council Work Session Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which time the following items will be considered:

1. Clarification of agenda items listed in the Regular Session agenda for this meeting, and discussion of issues not briefed in the written backup materials.

2. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction concerning amending the Denton Development Code by adding Boarding House, Conference Center, Warehouse (General) and Warehouse (Retail) as land uses in Subchapter 35.5, by adding new definitions for Conference Center, Warehouse (General) and Warehouse (Retail) and by revising existing definitions of Boarding House and Family in Subchapter 35.23.

3. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction regarding a proposed amendment to the Denton Plan and a corresponding zoning change as they relate to a proposed hotel/convention center project on property owned by the University of North Texas.  The property is generally located on the south side of I-35E, west of North Texas Boulevard and is within Neighborhood Residential 2 (NR-2) and Neighborhood Residential Mixed Use (NRMU) zoning districts.

1. Receive a briefing from and consult with the City’s attorneys regarding Item 3 on the Regular Meeting agenda of January 25, 2012 regarding the Staff’s recommended denial of subdivision plats due to inactivity, where discussion of these legal matters would conflict with the duty of the City’s attorneys to the City of Denton and the Denton Planning and Zoning Commission under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, or would jeopardize the City’s legal position in any potential litigation.

3. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction regarding a proposed amendment to the Denton Plan and a corresponding zoning change as they relate to a proposed hotel/convention center project on property owned by the University of North Texas.  The property is generally located on the south side of I-35E, west of North Texas Boulevard and is within Neighborhood Residential 2 (NR-2) and Neighborhood Residential Mixed Use (NRMU) zoning districts.

After completing the Work Session, the Planning and Zoning Commission will convene a Regular Meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Denton, Texas which will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney at which time the following items will be considered:
