7 THE ONLY ITEM AT LEAST CURRENTLY ON THIS AGENDA.

8 WELL WE DO HAVE MORE THAN THAT BUT OUR FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA IS CLOSED SESSION

18 WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO MOVE TO OUR WORK SESSION REPORTS WE'RE BASICALLY 19 RECONVENING FROM OUR ORIGINAL MEETING AT 8:00.

[A. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give staff direction regarding the revised draft FY2018-2019 Citywide Strategic Plan.]

20 WORK SESSION REPORT IS 1A: RECEIVE REPORT HOLD DISCUSSION, GIVE STAFF 21 DIRECTION REGARDING THE REVISED DRAFT CITYWIDE STRATEGIC PLAN.

22 GOOD AFTERNOON MAYOR AND COUNCIL I'M RACHEL WOOD CHIEF OF SAND THE PURPOSE 23 OF TODAY'S PRESENTATION IS TO DISCUSS THE REVISED DRAFT OF THE FY '18 '19 24 STRATEGIC PLAN.

25 BEFORE I GET INTO THE PROCESS AND REVISED COMPONENTS THAT THIS DRAFT 26 INCLUDES I WANT TO BRIEFLY DISCUSS THE DEFINITION OF A STRATEGIC PLAN INCLUDING 27 WHAT IT IS AS WELL AS WHAT IT IS NOT.

28 SO WHAT IS THE STRATEGIC PLAN? 29 IT'S AN ACTION-ORIENTED ROADMAP DESIGNED TO GUIDE THE ORGANIZATION TOWARD 30 ACHIEVING OUR MISSION, VISION AND CORE VALUES.

31 IT'S INTENDED TO ENSURE THE CITY'S OPERATIONS ARE ALIGNED WITH COUNCIL 32 PRIORITIES AND INCLUDES REPRESENTATIVE WORK PLAN ITEMS AND PERFORMANCE 33 MEASURES INTENDED TO SHOW HOW THE ORGANIZATION IS BRINGING YOUR POLICY 34 DIRECTIVES TO FRUITION.

35 IT'S ALSO INTENDED TO SERVE AS A LIVING DOCUMENT WITH REGULAR REPORTING AND SHOULD 36 BE A PART OF AN ONGOING DIALOGUE BETWEEN STAFF THE ELECTED OFFICIALS AS WELL AS 37 THE COMMUNITY.

38 WHAT IT'S NOT IT'S NOT INTENDED TO BE A ONCE A YEAR EXERCISE.

39 IT'S NOT DRIVEN BY A SINGLE GOAL OR SET OF IDEAS.

40 IT'S ALSO NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR DEPARTMENTAL STRATEGIC PLANS WHICH SHOULD BE MUCH 41 MORE DETAILED.

42 AND IT'S NOT A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

43 AS I MENTIONED THIS IS REALLY INTENDED TO BE A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLING OF 44 VARIOUS WORK PLAN ITEMS AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES WITHIN THE DEPARTMENTS.

45 IF IT WAS A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IT WOULD BE SEVERAL HUNDRED PAGES.
