AND EXPLORE ADDITION IMPROVEMENT OF THE VARIETY OF MUSIC AND ART VENUE STAGES OF THEATERS.

[00:00:05]

I DO WANT TO REQUEST THAT IF WE COULD TAKE ITEM D FIRST FOR OUR SIDEWALK COMES UP, BUT YOU'RE THE CHAIR.

IT'S YOURS TO CALL TO ORDER.

WE GOT THUMBS.

UP. ALL RIGHT.

OKAY THREE AND.

THEN SAFETY.

IMPROVE PERCEPTION OF SAFETY BY ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS CONCERNS AND NEEDS.

DESIGNING STREETS WITH INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENABLE STREET CLOSURES AND SUPPORT OUTDOOR EVENTS.

TARGETED LIGHTING AND STREETSCAPE ALONG KEY PEDESTRIAN CORRIDORS, MAKING SURE THAT THE MARKINGS ARE CLEAR.

I THINK THERE'S SOME WEIRD LANGUAGE THERE.

I'M GOING TO WORK ON THAT SENTENCE A LITTLE BIT, AS SOMETIMES WHEN YOU SPEAK IT ALOUD YOU'RE LIKE, OH, THAT DOESN'T.

[D. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and provide staff update regarding the City of Denton’s Master Sidewalk Workplan.]

ANYWAYS, IMPROVE MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS ON SIDEWALKS.

TWICE A YEAR.

UPDATE ON SIDEWALKS BECAUSE THEY DO TAKE A LITTLE WHILE ON THIS SECTION.

AND, YOU KNOW, COMING BACK TO YOU EARLIER COMMENTS ABOUT ABOUT THINKING ABOUT THE WAYS THAT WE'RE ADDRESSING SAFETY AND HOMELESSNESS AND OTHER AREAS THROUGH THE PLAN, JUST MAKING SURE THAT WE'VE KIND OF CAPTURED THOSE COMMENTS HERE AS WELL.

TODAY, I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU A BRIEF UPDATE ON OUR SIDEWALK WORK.

OKAY.

SO THIS WAS THE LAST ONE OF THE LAST PRIORITIES.

RIGHT NOW I WANT TO ASK BEFORE I MOVE ON TO OUR LAST AGENDA ITEM, IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU FEEL THAT WE'VE MISSED THAT YOU REALLY WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOW IT GETS INTO A COMMUNITY PRIORITY INFRASTRUCTURE UTILIZING.

AND I ACTUALLY AM GOING TO CALL OUT ONE, AS WE'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS AND THINKING BACK TO THAT VISION STATEMENT, I DON'T KNOW THAT WE'RE ADDRESSING DIVERSITY ENOUGH IN THESE STATEMENTS, AND I THINK THERE MIGHT BE SOME AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY THERE, ACTIVITY THAT WE WANT TO THINK ON.

SO WE TRY TO, YOU KNOW, IS THERE ANYTHING SOME OF THESE SIDEWALKS INTO OUR CAPITAL PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE SOME OF THE BIGGER ONES.

SO WE'RE ALWAYS EVALUATING.

THAT'S A PART OF WHAT WE'RE EVALUATING ANYTIME WE GO OUT AND DO A LARGE CAPITAL PROJECT.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT PEDESTRIAN ACCESSIBILITY, BIKING, BIKE AND EVERYTHING ALL TOGETHER.

SO SOMETHING ELSE SIDEWALKS YOU'LL SEE ON THIS PLAN GET GET ADDED INTO CAPITAL PROJECTS.

SOME OF THEM KIND OF ARE SEPARATE SIDEWALK PLANS PROJECTS BY THEMSELVES.

SO WE'RE ALWAYS TRYING TO MAXIMIZE OUR FUNDING.

SO THAT'S WHY WE KIND OF ROPE IT INTO THOSE BIGGER PROJECTS AS WE CAN.

WELL, MORE HOUSING VARIETY.

I MEAN, I THINK ONE THING THAT STANDS OUT FOR ME, FOR DOWNTOWN IS RIGHT NOW, THERE'S NOT REALLY A LOT OF HOUSING ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

THERE AREN'T A LOT OF DOWNTOWN RESIDENTS, ESPECIALLY IN THE AREAS THAT CLOSEST TO THE SQUARE, AND THAT THERE PROBABLY ARE ACTUALLY A VARIETY OF MARKET NEEDS, BOTH IN TERMS OF COST BURDEN AND FOLKS THAT DO NEED SOME POTENTIAL FOR SUBSIDIZED OR AFFORDABLE OPTIONS.

BUT I THINK THERE ARE ACTUALLY GAPS IN TERMS OF, AS YOU CAN SEE, OTHER PARTS OF THE MARKET AS WELL.

SO I THINK I THINK THAT DOES ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE THAT WE MIGHT WANT TO CALL OUT THAT THERE'S MULTIPLE SORT OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR.

MIXED USE PATHS. YOU CAN SEE THERE ON MCKINNEY, I THINK IN.

GENERAL, I MEAN, AGAIN, THIS IS A THING THAT I WANT TO TEST WITH THIS GROUP THAT I THINK ONE OF THE MOST POTENTIALLY TRANSFORMATIVE THINGS OVER THE NEXT 10 TO 20 YEARS WOULD BE THE IDEA THAT DOWNTOWN BECOMES A VIBRANT RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY.

AND THEN.

THAT'S THE MOST DIFFERENT FROM FROM WHERE WE'RE AT RIGHT NOW.

AND I THINK THAT IS SOMETHING THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO REALLY SUPPORT DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES AS WELL.

OUR MAIN ONES.

BUT I THINK THAT REALLY WHEN YOU KIND OF THINK ABOUT WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE, THAT MAY BE ONE OF THE MOST RADICAL THINGS IS THE IDEA THAT DOWNTOWN REALLY BECOMES A STRONG RESIDENTIAL.

NEIGHBORHOOD UP TO THE TO THAT BUILDING AND THEN DOWN TO 380, 380 MCKINNEY.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE ONES THAT WE'RE FOCUSING ON NOW AUSTIN STREET INDUSTRIAL, MULBERRY, RUSSELL AND BERNARD STREET.

SO THESE ARE ALL PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR.

AND THEN 2023 2024.

THESE ARE ALSO ONES THAT ARE WORKING THIS YEAR AND THESE ARE GRANT FUNDED PROJECTS.

SO I ACTUALLY JUST SENT AN EMAIL TO NCTCOG AND TEXDOT ABOUT A LOT OF THESE PROJECTS.

WE'RE LOOKING TO GET THOSE BID OUT BY THE END OF THIS YEAR AND START WORKING ON THOSE THEY ALLOWED US.

THESE ARE ALL SEPARATE PROJECTS, AND WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BID THEM OUT SEPARATELY, BUT THEY ALLOWED US TO BUNDLE THEM ALL TOGETHER.

THAT WAY WE GET, LIKE I SAID, MORE BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

YEAH, I THINK PRICES WHEN WE HAVE MORE CONSTRUCTION IN A PROJECT.

SO THEY ALLOWED US TO DO THAT.

AND SO.

AND I THINK.

THE THIRD.

LEG OF THAT STOOL TOO, IS, YOU KNOW, WE WILL BE CONTINUING TO LOOK MORE DEEPLY AT ECONOMICS TO TO ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THE, YOU KNOW, THAT PARTICULAR SITE.

I ACTUALLY DON'T THINK YOU COULD GO UP SIGNIFICANTLY BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE SITE AND THE COST OF DEVELOPMENT RIGHT NOW ANYWAYS, BUT MAKING SURE WE HAVE THE RIGHT REGULATIONS IN PLACE TO DO THAT. BUT WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE THINKING ABOUT WHAT WHAT CAN BE BUILT WHERE HOW IT'S SERVING SPECIFIC NEEDS AS WELL.

AND THAT'S DEFINITELY A COMPONENT THAT COULD BE PART OF 2425.

SO CARROLL BOULEVARD ON THE WEST SIDE, HICKORY TO OAK, 350 FOOT ELM STREET.

SO WE'RE GOING TO BE HOPEFULLY WELL WE WILL BE DOING ELM AND LOCUST STREET, THE ACTUAL ROADWAYS STARTING NEXT YEAR.

[00:05:07]

WE'LL DO THAT PROJECT AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK AND LOOK AT THE SIDEWALK CONNECTIVITY ON BOTH OF THOSE.

SO IT'LL BE TWO SEPARATE PROJECTS.

LOOP 288. WE TALKED ABOUT THAT A LITTLE BIT.

WE'RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE MAYHILL ROAD PROJECT, DCTA BRIDGE BIG PROJECT OVER THERE.

AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO COME BACK AND LOOK AT SOME SIDEWALK CONNECTIVITY.

THAT'S A PART OF PARKES.

IT'S A COLLABORATION WITH PARKES.

BUT CONTINUING THAT TRAIL THAT GOES.

YEAH, THAT'S A GREAT POINT.

AND I MEAN, IT GETS AGAIN KIND OF A LITTLE BIT DEEPER INTO POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS AS WELL.

BUT, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT IS THE POTENTIAL TO ACTUALLY ESTABLISH A MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT DISTRICT OR BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT WITHIN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. AND THAT'S ONE OF THE MAIN TOOLS THAT CITIES IN TEXAS USE TO DO CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT OR OTHER THINGS LIKE THAT FOR BUSINESSES DURING THOSE TIMES OF DISRUPTION. SO IT'S DEFINITELY I'VE GOT SOME NOTES ABOUT THAT ALREADY.

IT'S SOMETHING WE'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ALREADY IN TERMS OF BECAUSE IT'S A ROAD CONSTRUCTION THING.

I MEAN, THERE'S ALWAYS THERE'S ALWAYS CONSTRUCTION.

THAT'S PART OF BEING IN THIS SORT OF AREA.

BUT HOW ARE WE THINKING ABOUT WHAT SUPPORTS THERE ARE FOR BUSINESSES AND MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE WE'RE SORT OF HELPING PEOPLE THROUGH THOSE, THOSE TIMES.

SO DECISION.

MAKING PROCESS.

WE ONLY HAVE A COUPLE MINUTES LEFT. SO I DO WANT TO JUST KIND OF GO REAL QUICK.

AND I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU THESE THINGS PRETTY QUICK.

CAMERON, DO YOU MIND READING OFF OUR OUR AGENDA ITEM.

LOOK AT REBUILDING AS GRADE ON THIS PPI SCORE.

THE HIGHER THE NUMBER, THE HIGHER IT GOES IN THE PRIORITY LIST AND IT GETS THE FUNDING FIRST.

SO THOSE ARE JUST SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT HOW CLOSE IT IS.

RIGHT. SO I'M JUST GOING TO GO THROUGH THESE PRETTY QUICKLY.

BUT I WANTED TO SHOW YOU GUYS A FEW OF THE THINGS THAT THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING AT THE WORKSHOP.

SO, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DID ONLINE IS WE HAD PEOPLE SUBMITTING PICTURES OF THEIR FAVORITE THINGS DOWNTOWN.

WE HAD A WINNER OF THAT CONTEST THAT WE'RE GOING TO GIVE A $25 GIFT CARD TO.

BUT WE WANTED TO ACTUALLY AT THE MEETING, WE'RE GOING TO ACTUALLY SHOW SOME OF THE RUNNERS UP AS WELL AND HAVE A SECOND ROUND OF VOTING IN PERSON TO GIVE OUT A SECOND GIFT CARD WITH SOME OF THE GREAT PICTURES THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED.

SO A LOT OF DIFFERENT AND VERY INTERESTING VIEWS OF DOWNTOWN THAT ARE REALLY FUN ONCE A MONTH.

THE SECOND ACTIVITY WE'RE GOING TO HAVE, THIS IS KIND OF AN EXAMPLE ON A TABLE.

WE ARE GOING TO BE PRESENTING THE COMMUNITY VISION, AS WELL AS ALL OF THE INDIVIDUAL AREAS WITHIN THESE COMMUNITY PRIORITIES. AND WE'VE WORKED TO KIND OF SET THIS UP.

SO THIS WILL BE AT A TABLE.

PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO WALK ON EITHER SIDE AND READ EITHER SIDE OF THESE.

AND BASICALLY WE'RE GOING TO DO IS WE'RE GOING TO GIVE EVERYBODY TEN MARBLES.

AND EACH ONE OF THESE IS GOING TO HAVE A MASON JAR ON TOP OF IT.

AND WE WANT PEOPLE WITHIN THESE PRIORITIES TO TELL US WHAT THEIR PRIORITIES ARE.

SO, YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE YOUR KIND OF FAVORITE ELEMENTS OR AREAS THAT YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CONTINUE TO SEE IMPROVEMENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN? AND THEN WE WILL ALSO HAVE, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S GOT POST-IT NOTES SO THAT PEOPLE CAN WRITE COMMENTS ON THE COMMUNITY PRIORITY STATEMENTS AS WELL AND PUTTING THOSE ON THE TABLE.

SO THAT'LL BE KIND OF A FUN ONE FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO SEE.

THAT'S REALLY THE LONGEST PART.

THE NEXT ONE THAT I WANT TO SHOW YOU, WE'RE GOING TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ROAD RIGHT OF WAY, AND WE'RE GOING TO DO AN ACTIVITY THAT ESSENTIALLY LOOKS LIKE THIS, WHERE WE'RE GOING TO TAKE CARROLL BOULEVARD, AND WE'RE GOING TO MAP OUT PROBABLY ON A TABLE RATHER THAN ON THE FLOOR, THE ACTUAL WIDTH OF THE STREET, AND HAVE THESE ACTUAL LITTLE STREET ELEMENTS THAT LOOK KIND OF LIKE THIS, WHERE PEOPLE CAN PUT TOGETHER THEIR OWN IDEA OF WHAT THEY WOULD WANT CARROLL BOULEVARD TO BE, YOU KNOW, DO YOU WANT ADDITIONAL PARKING? WOULD YOU LIKE ADDITIONAL SPACE FOR TREES? DO YOU WANT TO, YOU KNOW, PLANT A MEDIAN AND USING THIS AS A WAY TO KIND OF HAVE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE TRADE OFFS THAT ARE IN OUR, OUR PUBLIC SPACES AND SO ON.

SO THERE WILL BE.

BE AN EXAMPLE HERE THAT WILL WE'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT.

THERE'LL BE A BOARD THAT KIND OF GIVES INSTRUCTIONS ON THAT.

AND THEN WE'LL ASK PEOPLE TO BUILD OUT THEIR OWN VERSION OF THE STREET.

THIS ONE'S GOT SOME COMMENTS ON IT.

SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT HARDER TO SEE.

BUT THE ACTIVITY HERE IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING WHERE WE ARE GOING TO ASK PEOPLE TO HELP US IDENTIFY SOME OF WHAT THEY FEEL ARE SOME OF THE KEY ROUTES THAT THEY WANT TO BE ABLE TO WALK BETTER ON.

SO PEOPLE WILL HAVE THESE LITTLE GREEN STICKS THAT THEY'RE ABLE TO KIND OF PUT ON THE MAP AND BE ABLE TO ADD TO THE AREAS THERE AS WELL, BECAUSE.

THEY PUT IN THE SIDEWALK.

WE'RE GOING TO BRING BACK A COUPLE OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT WE HAVE DONE.

WHEN WE'VE DONE QUAKERTOWN PARK POP UPS, TO CONTINUE TO GET SOME ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK ON ON QUAKERTOWN PARK CHARACTER AND WHAT WE THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE FOR QUAKERTOWN PARK.

THIS ONE IS A KIND OF A FUN ONE.

THIS WILL BE AN 11 BY 17 HANDOUT AND IT CALLS OUT DIFFERENT ZONES.

WE'LL HAVE TO WORK AROUND THE SQUARE.

QUAKERTOWN PARK EAST OF THE SQUARE, WEST OF THE SQUARE, SOUTH OF THE SQUARE, AND ASKS PEOPLE IF WE'RE THINKING ABOUT PARKS AND OPEN SPACE.

SO WHAT ACTUALLY WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE AS YOU THINK ABOUT PROGRAMING IN THESE AREAS IN TERMS OF THE THINGS IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF PARKS OR DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES? SO WE'LL HAVE LITTLE STICKERS AND PEOPLE WILL BE ASKED TO HELP US KIND OF LAY OUT WHAT WHAT'S APPROPRIATE FOR QUAKERTOWN PARK.

[00:10:08]

IF WE DO A NEW SQUARE PARK SOUTH OF THE SQUARE, WHAT WOULD BE WORK WELL IN THAT PARK? IF WE'RE DOING POP UP PARKS OR.

SMALLER POCKET PARKS EAST AND WEST OF THE SQUARE, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO DO IN THOSE AREAS AS WELL? SO HELPING US KIND OF GUIDE SOME OF THAT DISCUSSION.

AND YOU CAN SEE WE'VE GOT THESE FUN LITTLE STICKERS THAT SHOW A FEW OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF THINGS THAT PEOPLE COULD CHOOSE TO PUT IN SOME OF THOSE.

AREAS TO MENTION.

SO I'M SORRY WE DON'T HAVE A LITTLE BIT LONGER TO TALK ABOUT THIS, BUT MAYBE WE CAN TAKE AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THAT ARE ABLE TO STAY, AS LONG AS WE HAVEN'T LOST QUORUM, TO BE ABLE TO GET ANY FEEDBACK YOU ALL HAVE ON THAT.

ISSUE, YOU KNOW, RAMP THAT'S NOT BUILT CORRECTLY OR RAMPS TO NOWHERE.

THOSE ARE THINGS THAT WE'RE DEFINITELY FIXING.

AND THEN WE'RE ALSO TRYING TO EVALUATE THAT CONNECTIVITY AS WELL.

UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN THEY PUT THAT BOND OUT, THEY DIDN'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT SIDEWALKS AND ADA AND THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

SO WE'RE HAVING TO FIND KIND OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO BRIDGE THOSE GAPS IN ORDER TO DO THOSE PROJECTS.

BUT IF IT'S AN ADA ISSUE, ABSOLUTELY SOMETHING WE'RE FIXING EVERY TIME WE GO IN THERE, I.

THINK WE CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT.

SO AND WE'LL BE AT UNCLE LAB, IT'S A RELATIVELY SMALL ISH SPACE.

WE CAN FIT ABOUT 80 PEOPLE.

SO, YOU KNOW, WE'RE DEFINITELY THINKING ABOUT HOW THESE ACTIVITIES WILL WORK IN TERMS OF PEOPLE KIND OF BEING AROUND.

BUT WE WOULD DEFINITELY APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS.

YOU HAVE MISTAKES AS WE BUILD.

AND JUST IN CLOSING, WE DO WANT TO SAY WE DO HAVE THESE UPCOMING DATES.

THESE WILL COME IN AN EMAIL TO YOU AS WELL.

BUT BOTH THE VISIONING WORKSHOP, AS WELL AS OUR JOINT PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION AND PARKS BOARD MEETINGS, WILL BE HAPPENING DECEMBER 4TH AND FIFTH.

AND WE HOPE TO SEE AS MANY OF YOU THERE AS POSSIBLE.

AND WE REALLY APPRECIATE ALL OF THE COMMENTS THAT WE'VE GOTTEN HERE TODAY AS WELL.

WATER, WASTEWATER, ANYBODY HAS SAID THEY NEEDED IT OR NOT.

WE'RE GOING THROUGH THAT PROCESS AND BRINGING EVERYBODY TO THE TABLE AND SAYING, HEY, WE'RE ABOUT TO DO THIS STREET.

YOU NEED TO LOOK AT IT. AND IF YOU PLAN, IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR STUFF IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS, THEN YOU NEED TO DO IT RIGHT NOW.

AND SO WE'RE DOING IT ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

SO THE GOOD PART ABOUT IT IS WE'RE LOOKING AT ALL THOSE THINGS AS NOW AS WE'RE BUILDING THOSE PROJECTS.

BUT AS WE START LOOKING FORWARD INTO MAYBE A STREETS BOND IN 2026, WE UNDERSTAND THAT FUNDING NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED FOR ALL OF THESE OTHER THINGS THAT COME ALONG WITH, ALONG WITH THESE PROJECTS.

SO THAT'S JUST A STREET.

IT'S SIDEWALKS, IT'S ADA, IT'S STREET LIGHTING.

IT'S ALL OF THESE THINGS THAT WE'RE WE'RE REALIZING AS WE'RE BUILDING THESE PROJECTS.

HEY, WE DIDN'T ACCOUNT FOR THIS NOW.

AND SO MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE ACCOUNTING FOR THEM IN THE FUTURE.

SO THOSE ARE THINGS WE'RE ABSOLUTELY CONSIDERING AND MAKING SURE THAT WHEN WE BUILD THESE FUTURE BONDS THAT THAT'S INCLUDED IN THAT.

SO WE'RE NOT HAVING TO KIND OF SCRATCH AND LOOK FOR OTHER FUNDING IN OTHER PLACES TO MAKE THESE THINGS HAPPEN.

SO IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I DON'T KNOW.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND YOUR YOUR WORK WITH US TODAY.

AND WE'LL WE'LL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL SOON.

I GOT SOME CARDS. I'LL GO GET SOME AND I'LL BRING THEM.

OKAY.

I'LL BRING THEM BACK IN.

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

AND WHEN YOU WERE REFERRING TO THAT, YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT THE ADA.

IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IN YOUR LAST SLIDE? SORRY. RIGHT.

YOU'RE GOOD.

YOU'RE IN THAT LAST SLIDE ABOUT THE COMPLIANCE RATING.

YES.

SO THEY SAID THEY MOVED.

SO THIS IS SAYING THAT WE TOOK THE COMPLIANCE RATING OUT OF IT.

WHEN I'M TALKING ABOUT ADA IT'S NOT SPECIFICALLY TO PPI CRITERIA.

SO WHAT'S WHAT'S BEING APPLIED.

THIS PPI CRITERIA IS BEING APPLIED TO THESE SEGMENTS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT.

YOU KNOW JUST KIND OF IF YOU SCROLL BACK.

SO LIKE ANY OF THESE, ANY OF THESE SEGMENTS.

YEAH. LIKE LOCUST STREET, 550FT.

THOSE THE PPI SCORE IS BEING APPLIED TO THESE AND THEY'RE KIND OF SHIFTING UP AND DOWN THAT PRIORITY LIST.

THEY'RE LIKE SEPARATE. WHEN I TALK ABOUT US FIXING ADA PROJECTS LIKE FOR THE 2019 BOND PROJECTS THAT WERE DELIVERING 300 AND SOMETHING MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF PROJECTS WHEN THEY BUILT THAT BOND, THAT MONEY WAS JUST FOR THE STREETS.

AND SO WHEN WE COME IN, WE'RE LOOKING AT ALL OF THAT STUFF, AND WE'RE FINDING OTHER FUNDING TO ADD TO THOSE PROJECTS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THOSE ADA ISSUES THAT WE'RE FINDING.

SO WE DON'T WANT TO JUST COME IN AND FIX THE ROAD.

AND BUT YOU STILL GOT, YOU KNOW, SIDEWALKS THAT THAT BIG LIPS ON THEM AND THE ADA RAMPS THAT GO TO NOWHERE.

AND YOU KNOW, THAT'S THAT'S NOT A GOOD STORY TO TELL ANYBODY.

HEY, WE JUST FIXED ALL THIS STUFF, BUT WE LEFT ALL YOUR STUFF ALONE.

SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT WE'RE TRYING TO FIX AS WE AS WE GET INTO THOSE NEIGHBORHOODS AND THEN PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE.

AND WE DON'T HAVE TO GO FIND FUNDING FOR THAT.

IT'S ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE BONDS WHEN WE MOVE FORWARD.

SO.

GOOD. YEAH.

AND I'LL GRAB YOU ALL SOME CARDS, IN CASE YOU.

THAT'D BE GREAT.

THANK YOU. ABSOLUTELY.

APPRECIATE IT.

ANYTHING ELSE? YOU GOT SIDEWALKS.

SIDEWALKS.

WE DO.

ALL RIGHT. I'M A STUDENT JOURNALIST AT UNT.

I WAS JUST CURIOUS.

IS THIS ONLY FOR BRAND NEW SIDEWALKS, OR WOULD THIS POSSIBLY INCLUDE RENOVATING OLD, MORE BROKEN DOWN SIDEWALKS AS WELL?

[00:15:04]

BOTH. BOTH.

YES. YES.

YEAH.

SO THESE AREN'T NECESSARILY I MEAN, I DON'T KNOW SPECIFICALLY WITHOUT LOOKING AT THEM, WITHOUT PULLING THEM UP, BUT THESE AREN'T NECESSARILY JUST NEW SEGMENTS THAT THAT AREN'T THERE CURRENTLY. A LOT OF WHAT WE'RE DOING IN THE BOND PROJECTS IS ACTUALLY REPLACING OLD, BROKEN, CRACKED, NON-COMPLIANT.

YOU KNOW, YOU'LL SEE A LOT OF PLACES WHERE YOU'VE GOT LIKE A THREE FOOT SIDEWALK, WHICH, YOU KNOW, I MEAN, IT'S NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING, BUT YOU CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING WITH IT.

SO YOU'LL SEE A LOT WHERE IN SOME OF THE OLDER NEIGHBORHOODS, THE SIDEWALK IS ACTUALLY SLANTED LIKE THIS.

AND SO YEAH, THAT'S, THAT'S NOT THAT'S NOT ADA COMPLIANT.

SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS WE'RE LOOKING AT FIXING.

YOU'LL SEE RAMPS THAT DON'T HAVE OR THEY GO TO NOWHERE THAT'S NOT ADA COMPLIANT.

YEAH. IT DOESN'T HAVE THE THE LITTLE I REMEMBER WHAT THEY'RE CALLED NOW BUT YEAH.

HAVE THE THE PAD.

IT'S LIKE A PAD IN THERE.

AND SO THOSE ARE ALL THINGS THAT WE'RE CONSIDERING AND LOOKING AT WHEN WE'RE FIXING THIS STUFF.

SO THEY'VE ACTUALLY CHANGED THE LAW A LITTLE BIT.

ONCE YOU IF YOU TOUCH AN INTERSECTION THEN YOU'RE LEGALLY REQUIRED TO BRING IT UP TO ADA CODE.

BUT WE'RE LOOKING WE'RE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THAT BECAUSE WE FEEL AT ANY MINUTE OR ANY TIME THEY'RE GOING TO, THEY'RE GOING TO KEEP RAISING THAT.

AND SO WE WANT TO BE AHEAD OF THE CURVE.

YEAH. VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU ALL. APPRECIATE IT.

THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.

WE TAKE IT BACK TO.

[A. Consider approval of minutes for September 21, 2023.]

YOU.

WE DO NEED TO TAKE A VOTE ON THIS.

YES. SO WE NEED A MOTION AND A SECOND, AND THEN YOU CAN TAKE A.

VOTE TO APPROVE.

THE MINUTES.

FOR YOU.

SO WE HAD A MOTION. WE DID YOU SAY OKAY, SECOND SO WE CAN TAKE A VOTE ON.

I. KNOW WE'RE.

YOU CAN MOVE DOWN TO ITEM B.

[B. Receive nominations and elect a Chair and Vice-Chair for the Committee on Persons with Disabilities.]

I LOVE I'M.

ALL RIGHT.

THANKS SO MUCH.

THANKS. SO THIS IS I MENTIONED EARLIER BEFORE WE STARTED THE MEETING, THAT OUR NOVEMBER MEETING GENERALLY IS KIND OF AN ORGANIZING MEETING AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE HAVE TO DO A COUPLE OF PROCEDURAL THINGS, LIKE SET OUR SCHEDULE LIKE CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR.

AND SO WE'VE DONE THIS THE LAST 3 OR 4 YEARS, IS SELECTING A VICE CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR TO SERVE FOR THE NEXT YEAR, GIVE OR TAKE 24.

AND THE WAY THIS WILL GO IS WE WILL TAKE A NOMINATIONS FOR CHAIR FIRST, AND WE WILL VOTE ON THE NOMINATIONS IN THE ORDER THEY ARE GIVEN.

SO WE HAVE THREE NOMINATIONS.

WHICHEVER NOMINATION WAS GIVEN FIRST WE'LL VOTE ON THAT ONE.

AND THEN WE WILL KEEP VOTING UNTIL SOMEONE GETS A MAJORITY OF VOTE FOR CHAIR.

AND THEN WE'LL DO THE SAME FOR VICE CHAIR.

SO JOE, MR. CHAIR, YOU CAN OPEN IT UP FOR ANY NOMINATIONS FOR CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE.

NOT MANY. OR MAY.

YEAH. ANY OTHER.

NOMINATIONS? MR. CHAIR, DO YOU ACCEPT THE NOMINATION? OKAY, SO THIS AGAIN, WOULD TAKE A VOTE FOR FOR CHAIR WITH THE ONE NOMINATION.

OKAY. SO DURING EVERY.

HERE.

WE HAD TO VOTE ON THE CHAIR THEN WE COULD GO TO LAST YEAR.

SORRY. UM.

GOING OVER THE RIVER.

SO I THINK IT'S ALL IN FAVOR OF ACCEPTING THE NOMINATION OF JOE AS CHAIR.

YES. ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT. ALL RIGHT.

YOU'LL CONTINUE TO SERVE. AND SO THEN THEN YOU CAN OPEN IT UP FOR NOMINATIONS FOR VICE CHAIR.

I RIGHT.

SO THE NOMINATIONS FOR VICE CHAIR.

AND.

SALLY.

OKAY.

SALLY. NOMINATED FOR.

VALENTINE. SALLY, YOU SAID YOUR NOMINATION.

YEAH.

I'LL ACCEPT IT. OKAY.

SO WE HAVE ANY OTHER NOMINATIONS FOR VICE CHAIR? I ONLY HAVE.

ONE NOMINATION ON THE FLOOR FOR VICE CHAIR FOR MISS SALLY AUSTIN.

[00:20:03]

ALL. ALL.

RIGHT. ALL RIGHT.

WE HAVE A NEW CHAIR.

VICE CHAIR.

CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU.

CHAIR.

SO THE.

[C. Discussion and adoption of an annual meeting schedule for 2024.]

AND THE CURRENT.

ANNUAL MEAN VALUE.

SO THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE PRE-POPULATE FOR YOU GUYS AS SOON AS I CAN FIND IT.

THERE IT IS. SO WE HAVE, SINCE THE PANDEMIC, BEEN ON A CADENCE OF SIX MEETINGS A YEAR, EVERY OTHER MONTH.

AND SO FAR WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO CREATE ENOUGH ISSUES AND CONTENT FOR DISCUSSION FOR THIS BOARD.

WHAT'S IN THERE IS CONTINUING THAT IF YOU WANT TO ACCEPT IT, IT'S EVERY OTHER THURSDAY BEGINNING IN JANUARY OR EVERY OTHER THURSDAY, THURSDAY OF EVERY OTHER MONTH, THIRD THURSDAY OF EVERY OTHER MONTH AT £0.03 PM.

ALTHOUGH THIS IS A COMMITTED DECISION, IF YOU WANT TO MEET MORE OR LESS ON A DIFFERENT DAY, AT DIFFERENT TIME, THAT'S COMPLETELY UP TO THIS COMMITTEE.

AND WE JUST WANTED TO START THE CONVERSATION WITH JUST GIVING A DRAFT SCHEDULE.

BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE COMMITTEE CAN DISCUSS AND LET STAFF KNOW WHAT THEIR PREFERENCE IS.

THIS SCHEDULE WORKS FINE.

YEAH, I THINK IT'S GOOD TO.

SAY IT AGAIN, JOE. I KNOW WAY IT IS.

SO THIS WOULD BE ANOTHER VOTE FOR THE SCHEDULE.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A MOTION TO ACCEPT WHAT HAS BEEN RECOMMENDED BY STAFF.

THEN MOVE TO ACCEPT THE SCHEDULE.

NO, MA'AM.

I HAVE.

SORRY, I HAVE ONE.

ISSUE.

THURSDAY, MAY 16TH, 2002.

SO BEFORE WE APPROVE THAT, WE MIGHT WANT.

THE THE THE.

TWO.

WITH THE MODIFICATION THAT WE'RE NOT GOING BACK IN TIME.

WITH THE AMENDMENT THAT THURSDAY, MAY 16TH, 2024.

I MOVE TO ACCEPT THE SCHEDULE.

EXCELLENT. SAM.

ALL RIGHT. SO WE HAVE AMENDMENT TO YOUR AMENDMENT.

AND DID WE HAVE A SECOND? YES.

AND WHENEVER YOU'RE READY.

AND I THINK YOU.

KNOW.

OKAY.

WE DID IT. ALL RIGHT, SO NOW WE HAVE.

SO WE HAVE HERE FOR ME.

OKAY. UH, OKAY.

[E. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and give direction regarding committee issue priorities for 2024.]

ONE THING WE'RE DOING.

SO THIS IS OUR KIND OF PLANNING PORTION OF THIS MEETING.

LET ME PULL UP A PRESENTATION THAT I HAVE, AND I'M GOING TO STAY SEATED SO I CAN TAKE NOTES.

SO IF YOU MIGHT RECALL, WE'VE DONE THIS THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

WE HAVE ONCE AGAIN, AN IDEA FROM THIS COMMITTEE, THE ISSUES THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU AND THAT YOU'D LIKE TO DISCUSS IN 2024, THAT YOU'D LIKE TO MAYBE EVEN MAKE ADVISORY OPINIONS TO THE COUNCIL ON.

AND WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO THIS IS POSTED THAT YOU COULD VOTE ON THIS, BUT IT MIGHT BE MORE BENEFICIAL TO HAVE A DISCUSSION.

WE CAN BRING THAT BACK TO YOU IN JANUARY FOR YOU TO VOTE ON AND SOLIDIFY EVENTS.

YOU CAN HAVE MORE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT, BUT JUST GIVE IT A LITTLE BIT OF A BACKGROUND ON THE COMMITTEE.

WE WERE CREATED IN 2018, OUR FIRST MEETING WAS IN 2019, AND THE PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE IS TO ADVISE THE CITY AND THAT CITY STAFF, CITY COUNCIL AND AREAS RELATED TO DISABILITY CONCERNS, ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCOMMODATIONS, AND THEY ARE GENERALLY APPLICABLE ONLY TO CITY PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES. ALTHOUGH YOU CAN HEAR FROM OUTSIDE ENTITIES AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THEM, OBVIOUSLY THEY CAN TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, BUT THERE ARE ALWAYS REALLY GENERALLY ACCEPTED TO ACCEPTED RECEPTIVE TO IT.

SO HERE ARE SOME OF THE SPECIFIC AREAS THAT ARE UNDER THE COMMITTEE'S CHARGE.

SIDEWALKS. RAMPS.

CROSSWALKS. WE JUST GOT AN UPDATE FOR TREVOR ON THAT.

GENERALLY, WHEN THERE'S A NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WHERE THERE'S A DECISION POINT THAT NEEDS TO BE MADE, PERHAPS ON THE TYPE OF SIDEWALK OR OTHER RELATED CONDITIONS, WE TRY TO GET THAT IN FRONT OF THIS, THIS GROUP.

THOSE DECISIONS TEND TO BE PRETTY SLOW YEARS IN THE MAKING, SO WE DON'T GET THOSE TOO OFTEN.

UPDATES ON OUR ADA TRANSITION PLAN, WHETHER THAT APPLIES TO SIDEWALKS OR FACILITIES, ADAPTIVE RECREATION AND ACCESSIBLE PARK, WHICH WE HEARD ABOUT THIS YEAR, NEW FACILITIES OR EXISTING FACILITIES, ISSUES WITH THOSE SIGNAGE, PARKING LOT REHAB.

[00:25:08]

PROBABLY THE ONE THAT THAT'S THE MOST CATCHALL IS ANYTHING THAT IMPROVES CITY OPERATIONS.

SO OUR PROGRAMING HOW TO MAKE THAT ACCESSIBLE AND MORE OPEN TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, OPERATIONS OF OTHER ENTITIES.

WE HEARD FROM A FEW THIS YEAR AND THEN I SAID ADAPTIVE ACTIVITIES ALREADY.

SO THAT'S GENERALLY WHAT'S IN THE RESOLUTION THAT CREATED THIS COMMITTEE.

SO I DID WANT TO LIST THIS.

THIS IS WHAT THE COMMITTEE ADOPTED THIS TIME LAST YEAR.

THE COMMITTEE HAD SEVERAL RECOMMENDATIONS OF WHAT THEY WANTED TO DISCUSS.

STAFF MADE SOME ADDITIONS.

THE BOLDED ONES ARE THE THINGS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO.

SO WE WE DID NOT MAKE ALL OF OUR MEETINGS THIS YEAR DUE TO QUORUM ON A COUPLE, BUT WE DID GET ALL THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS, AND WE DID HAVE AN UPDATE FROM GOZONE OR DCTA.

EARLIER IN THE YEAR WE HAD ELECTIONS.

AT OUR LAST MEETING, OUR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR CAME IN TO TALK ABOUT DISASTER PLANNING.

WE'VE HAD TWO ADAPTIVE RECREATION UPDATES.

WE TALKED ABOUT SPECIAL EVENTS, AND WE GOT A PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ON ACCESSIBILITY WITH THE TWO ADA SHELTER, WHICH HAD JUST OPENED THIS YEAR, AND WHAT I AM ASKING THIS COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS, AND MAYBE GIVE ME SOME INITIAL DIRECTION THAT I CAN BRING BACK A MORE COMPLETE LIST FOR YOU FOR THE NEXT MEETING IS WHAT DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WANT TO DISCUSS? EVEN IF IT'S A GENERALIZED THOUGHT? IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A SPECIFIC THING, BUT WHAT ARE THE AREAS THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR TIME ON IN 2024? I'LL TAKE THAT.

BRING IT BACK. WE CAN REFINE IT, ADD TO IT IN JANUARY, AND THEN MAYBE SOLIDIFY THAT SO STAFF CAN HAVE THE DIRECTION, KNOWING WHAT YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT AND BRINGING THAT BACK TO YOU.

I'M GOING.

TO HEAR FROM GHOSN AGAIN.

KNOW I WANT TO.

HEAR BACK FROM THE LIBRARY.

ANYTHING SPECIFIC ON THE LIBRARY? WELL, THE ACCOMMODATIONS THAT THE CHANGES THAT THEY MADE IN THE ACCOMMODATIONS REPORT BACK AND ACCOMMODATIONS FOR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES.

AND WHEN YOU.

PEOPLE DO COME BACK FROM ABROAD, RANG OUT ON THE UNDERGROUND AND I WOULD NOT.

BROTHER, BROTHER, BROTHER COUSIN.

NO WITH THE.

ARE YOU THINKING MAYBE ANOTHER UPDATE TO GENERATE SOME DISCUSSION POINTS? OR IS THERE ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR THAT GOES ON THAT YOU'D LIKE TO TO COME BACK WITH? I WOULD LIKE TO I THINK THAT THERE'S A WAY FOR US TO FIND OUT, LIKE WITH DCTA GOES ON EITHER ONE, LIKE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE CALLING IN FOR A RIDE THAT HAVE A DISABILITY THAT NEED SPECIAL, YOU KNOW, A SPECIAL VEHICLE FOR THE DISABILITY THAT ARE NOT GETTING THEIR RIDES? AND THIS IS JUST I TURNED 65, I SIGNED UP FOR THE OVER 65 RIDE THING AND MADE THE PLAN A WEEK IN ADVANCE. AND I JUST DID IT TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE JUST TO TRY IT OUT.

AND NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT COME, THEY DIDN'T CALL TO TELL ME THEY WERE COMING.

SO THAT WAS JUST LIKE MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THAT.

AND I CALLED BACK. THE NEXT I WAS LIKE, WHAT HAPPENED? YOU KNOW, SHE SAID, WELL, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CALL YOU.

SO. SO ANYWAY, I THINK THAT THERE IS A WAY FOR US TO GET SPECIFIC DATA ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE NOT ACTUALLY GETTING THE SERVICE THEY DESERVE, WHICH WE USED TO BE ABLE TO GET WITH THE BUSSES.

ON TOP OF THAT. OKAY.

YEAH. SO I WANT TO REQUEST THE DATA.

AND THEN IF THERE IS A WAY THAT WE CAN HAVE A WORK SESSION, WORK SESSION TO ACTUALLY USE ONE OF THESE AS A WORK SESSION TO ACTUALLY VOTE ON SOME RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE MAKE TO COUNCIL. SO PUT IT ON OUR AGENDA TO VOTE ON AND THEN SEND THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS.

RECOMMENDATIONS.

WHEN YOU HEAR THE DISCUSSION FIRST AND COME BACK AT A LATER MEETING TO MAKE ADVISORY OPINIONS TO THE COUNCIL.

OKAY.

AND I'D LIKE.

TO GO BACK TO SOLID WASTE.

I THINK WHEN WE FIRST STARTED, THEY WAS CHANGING THEIR PROCESS FOR HELPING INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN'T GET THEIR CONTAINERS OUT.

AND I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHERE IS THAT AND HOW DO PEOPLE GET IT? I'VE BEEN OUT ON THE WEBSITE.

I KNOW.

SERVICE.

ASSISTANCE.

PROGRAMS. I THINK IT'S WHAT IT'S CALLED.

OKAY.

YEAH. THE YELLOW LIDS, RIGHT? YEAH.

WE DON'T NEED THE YELLOW LIDS.

YEAH.

SO WHAT IS IT NOW? I THINK IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AUTOMATED IN A WAY THAT THE DRIVER KNEW THIS PERSON NEEDED TO HAVE THEIR CARDS, BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT THAT'S HAPPENING.

YEAH, THAT'S.

ONE OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAD BENEFITED FROM THAT IS STRUGGLING GETTING HER CARTS OUT.

[00:30:04]

I THINK HER AMBULATION IS NOT THE BEST.

SO YEAH, THEY THEY.

GOT RID OF THE YELLOW LIDS BECAUSE THEY FELT LIKE PEOPLE COULD BE TARGETED IF THEY KNEW THEY HAD.

YEAH, MAYBE THEY WERE ELDERLY OR HAD SOME SORT OF PHYSICAL LIMITATION.

SO THEY DIDN'T WANT TO JUST HAVE SOMETHING OUT THERE THAT PLAINLY IDENTIFIED THEY SOLID WASTE.

GOT A NEW SYSTEM TRACKING SYSTEM WHERE IF A DRIVER IS GOING DOWN A ROUND, IT POPS UP, YOU KNOW, ON A SCREEN IN FRONT OF THEM, LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THIS HOUSE RIGHT HERE IS ALMOST LIKE A GPS. THIS HOUSE HAS, YOU KNOW, AS PART OF THE SERVICE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, YOU NEED TO GO UP THERE AND ACTUALLY PULL THEIR CARTS DOWN.

BUT YEAH, WE CAN BRING THEM IN AND HAVE THEM GIVE THEM AN UPDATE ON IT AND MAYBE JUST TALK ABOUT THAT, MAYBE EVEN TALK ABOUT HOW THEY HELP PEOPLE AT THE LANDFILL TOO, BECAUSE THAT ALSO IS AN ASSET THAT PEOPLE USE THAT WE NEED TO.

YEAH. GOT IT.

AND MAYBE GIVE US A LITTLE UPDATE ON THE GENTLEMAN WHO GOES THROUGH RECYCLES TO MAKE SURE IT'S ELIGIBLE FOR PICKUP.

OH THE AUDITORS.

YEAH.

JUST A LITTLE UPDATE ON THAT.

HOW DO YOU GET.

AN AUDIT OUT OF YOUR TRASH.

CAN? WELL.

MY SON WAS OVER EARLY ONE MORNING, AND HE SAID THIS PERSON JUST APPEARED AND HE DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY WHERE HE WAS, BUT HE WAS GOING THROUGH THE RECYCLES. AND THEN JUST.

IT WAS GOOD, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS HAPPENING.

SO DID YOU ALL KNOW THAT.

WE HAVE ONE FULL TIME PERSON AND TWO INTERNS WHO DO AUDITS, AND SO THEY'LL GO AND GRAB A NEIGHBORHOOD AND THEY'LL GO THROUGH WITHOUT MAKING A MESS. THEY'LL GO THROUGH YOUR RECYCLING.

AND IF IT'S MOST OF IT, OR A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF IT IS RECYCLABLE MATERIAL, THAT'S WITHIN OUR PROGRAM TO DO.

YOU GET A HAPPY, GREAT JOB TAG.

IF IT'S ON THE EDGE, YOU'LL GET A HEY, YOU KNOW.

YEAH, BUT JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO.

WE'LL TAKE IT THIS TIME IF IT'S JUST TERRIBLE.

AND THEN THEY'LL SAY, HEY, WE'RE NOT GOING TO PICK IT UP, HERE'S WHAT NEEDS TO GO IN HERE, AND THE REST SHOULD GO IN TRASH.

AND THAT'S BEEN ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE'VE OUR DIVERSION RATE FOR THE LANDFILL.

IT USED TO BE THE.

I THINK DOWN TO I THINK IT'S LIKE 60% OF OUR RECYCLING WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK DOWN, WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE TO GO TO THE LANDFILL BECAUSE IT WAS JUST CONTAMINATED. WE'RE DOWN TO LIKE 29, 30%, WHICH MEANS MORE STUFF OUT OF THE LANDFILL.

LANDFILL LAST LONGER, WHICH IS ALL WE WANT.

AND IT GOES, GETS RECYCLED AND LIVES ANOTHER LIFE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

BUT WE CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT.

YEAH, THAT'S WHAT.

I WITH THE SIDEWALKS, I WONDERED.

IF THERE'S ANY WAY TO TALK ABOUT THE, LIKE THE BUTTONS ON THE POLES THAT YOU CAN PUSH TO.

AS YOU WALK AND THE LIGHTS.

I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THEY'RE CALLED NOW.

WHATEVER SIGNALS, THE SIGNALS.

THANK YOU. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SIDEWALKS, PARTICULARLY ON EAGLE DRIVE.

LIKE RIGHT ON THE OUTSIDE OF CAMPUS THAT ARE JUST SO DANGEROUS.

LIKE TO WALK, TO WALK ACROSS THAT ROAD.

AND THERE ARE NO SIGNALS FOR PEDESTRIANS.

SO HOW THEY HOW THEY WHEN THEY DECIDE TO SIGNAL LIKE A LIGHT.

YES.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT THAT.

YEAH.

THAT IS A PRETTY SCARY PLACE FOR PEDESTRIANS AND DRIVERS ALIKE.

AND YOU DON'T KNOW IF THE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO JUST WALK OUT? YES, BECAUSE THE REST OF THE CAMPUS IS PROTECTED FOR PEDESTRIANS.

AND SO THAT SEEMS LIKE REALLY IT'S KIND OF AN OVERSIGHT.

IT FEELS LIKE.

YOU CAN DO THAT. AND THAT'S LIKE.

EAGLE IN THE CORNER FOR SURE.

YEAH.

YEAH.

YEAH, IT WAS JUST.

A NARROW STREET THAT.

WELL, THERE ARE A LOT OF APARTMENTS NESTLED RIGHT THERE, AND THEN THERE ARE DORMS OVER ON THE MCCORMICK SIDE.

AND SO THE KIDS STUDENTS ARE COMING BACK AND FORTH AND.

THERE IN A SIGNAL TO SAY, WALK.

YEAH, BUT THERE IS A TRAFFIC LIGHT FOR THE VEHICLES, FOR THE DRIVERS.

BUT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO DO AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE DRIVERS ARE DOING.

SO IT'S LIKE MAKING EYE CONTACT AND SAYING GO.

OR.

THEY'LL PASS YOU ON OR WHATEVER.

IT IS HORRIBLE.

THEY BUILT THAT LIKE LOVELY MIXED USE AREA THERE WITH THE RESTAURANTS ON THE BOTTOM AND THE APARTMENTS ON TOP.

THERE'S LIKE NO SAFE WAY TO GET ACROSS THE STREET, REALLY.

SO I JUST FEEL LIKE THAT'S AN OVERSIGHT.

AND ESPECIALLY SINCE IT'S A LOT OF THAT'S NEW DOWN THERE.

SO THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT WHEN THEY PUT THAT IN.

ALL RIGHT.

I AGREE WITH YOU.

[00:35:01]

YES A.

LITTLE SCARY. SO IN TERMS OF.

PROGRAMING YOU MENTIONED SOLID WASTE.

YOU MENTIONED KIND OF THE VOLUNTEER ASPECTS OF THE LIBRARY OR ANY OTHER CITY PROGRAMS OR OPERATIONS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO TAKE A LOOK AT.

I STILL, YOU KNOW, WE HAD THE PERSON I THINK HE WAS FROM THE GAS COMPANY, DISASTER PLANNING PERSON THAT CAME TO SPEAK TO US.

OH, THE.

WAS A BOB MARTINEZ EMERGENCY MANAGER.

THAT WAS HIM? YEAH. YEAH.

AND I STILL, YOU KNOW, I JUST DON'T I JUST DON'T THINK THAT THE INFORMATION'S OUT THERE.

LIKE, HE SAID THAT LIKE, SOMEBODY DOESN'T HAVE A VEHICLE.

A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES DON'T HAVE A VEHICLE.

YOU GET A TEXT.

BUT. BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT ANYONE IS AWARE THAT THERE'S A POLICY FOR THAT.

AND HE TALKED ABOUT SOME KIND OF A KIOSK LIKE AT THE LIBRARY THAT THERE WOULD BE A SCAN CODE, AND I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THAT WAS IN RELATION TO, BUT I DON'T KNOW, IT JUST I JUST LIKE MAYBE IS THERE A COMPREHENSIVE PERSON FOR ALL THE, YOU KNOW, NOT JUST SPECIFICALLY THE GAS PERSON? WELL, HE'S NOT IN GAS. HE'S HE'S OUR EMERGENCY MANAGER.

OKAY, OKAY.

THIS IS THE PERSON THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

OKAY.

OKAY.

WELL, I THINK YOU HAVE TIGHTEN UP ON THE CITY'S INITIATIVES FOR GETTING INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO SAFE PLACES WHEN UTILITIES GO OUT.

YOU KNOW, YOU HAD THAT MOMENT IN.

ESPECIALLY IF WE'RE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER WINTER STORM.

AND I SAW ON THE WEBSITE WHERE THERE ARE WARMING STATIONS.

BUT THEN HOW DO PEOPLE GET TO THEM? EXACTLY. YEAH.

WHAT IS WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIPS CAN BE DEVELOPED WITH THE CITY AND TRANSPORTATION AND COUNTY TRANSPORTATION? TO TO MOVE THAT FORWARD FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

HAVE YOU HAVE WE HEARD FROM OR ANY SERVICES LIKE THAT? WE HAD THEM OUR FIRST YEAR OF OUR INCEPTION YEAR, BUT IT'S BEEN SINCE THEN THAT WE'VE HAD THEM.

WE WERE DISCUSSING THE LAST TIME THAT WE SPOKE TO THEM.

WE WERE DISCUSSING BEING FULL.

OR LIKE TURNING AWAY PATIENTS THAT NEED TO BE THERE OR THEY NEED TO NEED HELP AND WHAT THE PROTOCOL IS FOR THAT.

BUT THAT'S ABOUT AS FAR AS IT WENT.

I WOULD DEFINITELY WANT SOME DATA AND INFORMATION ON TESTING.

DIAGNOSIS, TESTING OR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, IF YOU WILL.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND THEN THE SERVICES.

AND THEN IF WE'VE SEEN ANY IMPROVEMENT ON GETTING PEOPLE ROOMS AND SPACE.

I THINK WICHITA FALLS IS THE CLOSEST HOSPITAL.

AND THEN THEY JUST HAVEN'T.

THEY JUST CLOSED DOWN LIKE A TREATMENT CENTER IN DALLAS THAT HAD BEEN THERE FOR YEARS, LIKE AN ALCOHOL AND DRUG TREATMENT CENTER.

IT SEEMS LIKE I REMEMBER SEEING THAT ON.

I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT, BUT THERE'S A NEW ONE THAT JUST OPENED IN LEWISVILLE.

OH, GOOD.

BUT YEAH, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM.

I THINK PROBABLY JUST SEE WHERE THEY ARE.

AND THEN ALSO ON THAT I STILL I MEAN I THINK THAT A REGULAR VISITS FROM PARKS AND REC.

YEAH WOULD BE GOOD I.

THINK AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR.

UPDATES FROM THE ADAP.

YEAH. CORRECT.

YEAH I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING WITH THAT.

YEAH. OUR BEGINNING OF THE BUILDING SEASON AND END OF THE BUILDING SEASON FOR SIDEWALKS AND STREETS.

AND THEN SOMEWHERE HOPEFULLY EARLIER, MAYBE EVEN THIS JANUARY MEETING.

UPDATE ON THE ADA TRANSITION PLAN.

YES.

AND KIND OF SEE WHERE WE'RE AT WITH THAT BECAUSE WE DIDN'T WE HAD ONE OF THOSE SCHEDULED THAT WAS ONE OF OUR MEETINGS THAT DIDN'T GO FORWARD.

SO I'D LIKE TO GET THAT IN AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE.

YEAH, I THINK THOSE ARE OUR KIND OF ANCHOR.

THINGS.

THAT ALWAYS.

YOU. YEAH, THAT'S DEFINITELY IN THE CITY'S BALLPARK.

WE CAN ALWAYS GET THOSE ON THE BOOKS.

SO LET ME LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I HAVE.

AND AGAIN WE CAN ADD TO IT, MODIFY IT, PRIORITIZE IT, GET AN.

UPDATE LATER IN THE YEAR FROM THE SHELTER BECAUSE THAT THEY JUST OPENED.

SO I'D LOVE TO HEAR.

SO YOU KNOW, THE NEXT YEAR SOME TIME HOW IT'S GOING.

YEAH WE MIGHT.

THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD SPRINGTIME ONE BECAUSE SUMMER IS KIND OF THE PRIME TIME BECAUSE OF THE HEAT IN THE WINTER TIME, TOO.

BUT THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD THING JUST TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING THERE.

SO BASICALLY EVERYTHING.

CAN EVERYBODY JUST COME? ALL RIGHT. SO WHAT I HAVE I HAVE GO ZONE WITH SPECIFIC DATA, PARTICULARLY THE PERCENTAGE OF FOLKS WHO NEED A SPECIALIZED VEHICLE BUT DON'T GET IT.

AND THEN WITH THE OPTION AT A LATER DATE TO WHATEVER THIS GROUP MAY OR MAY NOT WANT TO RECOMMEND TO COUNCIL HAVING THE OPTION TO DO THAT.

[00:40:06]

AND SO COMING OUT OF THAT INITIAL MEETING AND IT MAY TAKE A SERIES OF DISCUSSIONS, I JUST WANT TO BE REALLY CLEAR ON WHAT YOU GUYS WANT TO RECOMMEND, SO THAT WE CAN COMMUNICATE THAT CLEARLY TO COUNCIL.

THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN OPTION WITHIN THE GOZONE APP WHERE YOU COULD SAY THAT YOU YOU NEEDED YOU NEEDED TO BE DROPPED OFF AT A SPECIFIC PLACE RATHER THAN HAVING TO WALK TO OR FROM THE GO ZONE.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? I REMEMBER THAT BECAUSE THAT.

WAS ACTUALLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO ASK TO ADD IN, BECAUSE I NEED TO I NEED TO FIND OUT ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I SEE THEM THERE JUST DROPPING SOMEBODY OFF AT A CORNER OR IN THE MIDDLE OF A IN THE MIDDLE OF A STREET.

YEAH.

WELL, SO PULL OVER.

PLAN ITSELF IS KIND OF CHAOTIC.

BUT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIMITED MOBILITY, LIKE THEY CAN'T JUST DROP THEM OFF ANYWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.

YEAH, EXACTLY.

SO THAT WAS SOMETHING THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO FIX, BUT I HAVEN'T.

AND MAYBE IT IS FIXED, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN IT.

SO I WAS WONDERING.

SO IT HASN'T BEEN OBSERVED RIGHT OVER THERE IN MCCORMICK.

THEY STOPPED LIKE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, BUT NOT FAR ENOUGH OFF OF THE CORNER.

AND I'M THINKING, HOW SAFE IS THAT? AND THERE'S NO SIDEWALK THERE.

YEAH.

ALL THOSE THINGS THAT I SAID.

YEAH. THE ADDITION OF AN UPDATE ON THAT SPECIFIC FEATURE OF THE APP SO THAT PEOPLE CAN KNOW THAT, HEY, YOU NEED TO DROP ME OFF AT MY DESTINATION.

NOT. YES. RIGHT.

GOT IT. ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE LIBRARY.

JUST AN UPDATE. REPORT BACK ON THE PREVIOUS DISCUSSION.

LIBRARY SLASH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES.

MAYBE THAT'S JUST VOLUNTEERS. AND GENERALLY, SINCE THE LIBRARY IS NOT THE ONLY ONE, IT'S ALWAYS SERVICE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LANDFILL AND SOLID WASTE, AUDITORS THROWN IN, SIGNALING AND INTERSECTIONS.

THE PARTICULAR THE CRITERIA FOR SIGNALIZING LIGHTS AND KIND OF HOW WE PRIORITIZE THOSE PROJECTS.

WELL ON THAT I LIKE.

SO GOING DOWN BONNIE BRAE, I'VE NOTICED THAT RIGHT THERE RIGHT ACROSS FROM ACADEMY, THERE'S A DROP OFF THERE.

THERE'S A LOT OF STUDENTS WHO ARE COMING IN THERE AND THAT, AND THEY TRY TO GET ACROSS THAT STREET BECAUSE THEY'RE ON THE THEY'RE ON THE EAST SIDE THERE.

THEY GET DROPPED OFF AND THEY'RE TRYING TO GET ACROSS.

AND THEN IT'S JUST A CONSTANT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE SOME KIND OF WALKWAY.

BODY BREAK WHERE.

BONNIE BRAE.

ACROSS FROM FROM.

THE BUS STOP LIKE THAT.

YEAH OKAY. SO NOT ON NOT ON 380, BUT FURTHER A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH.

A LITTLE.

FURTHER NORTH. YEAH. RIGHT THERE ACROSS FROM ACADEMY.

GOT IT.

WELL. AND ANYWHERE REALLY ANYWHERE IN THAT AREA.

ANYWHERE ON BONNIE BRAE. LET'S BE HONEST.

BUT THEN ANYTHING.

WHERE THERE'S A BUS STOP. YEAH.

AND THEN AND THAT'S KIND OF EXPAND THE KIND OF LIGHTS THAT YOU HAVE ACROSS FROM CITY HALL, THAT WOULD BE YOU HIT THE BUTTON AND IT TURNS THE LIGHTS ON.

THAT WOULD BE, THAT WOULD BE.

I WANT TO KNOW IF WE CAN DO MORE OF THOSE BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A SMART IDEA.

AND I THINK PEOPLE THAT DRIVE AROUND CAMPUS ARE USED TO HAVING PROTECTED CROSSWALKS KIND OF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, BUT OTHER CITIES PUT LIGHTS AND STUFF.

SO KIND OF FOR THOSE PROTECTED PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS, LIKE THE ONE ACROSS FROM CITY HALL THAT GOES RIGHT TO THAT PARK LINE, YOU KNOW? SO GIVE US, GIVE US, TELL US ABOUT THOSE THINGS, WHY WE USE THEM, WHY WE DON'T USE THEM.

IS THERE A PLAN TO USE THEM MORE? AND AND Y'ALL CAN.

EXPRESS YOUR.

PUT LIGHTS ON IN ON THE CROSSWALK, YOU KNOW, LIKE WHEN SOMEONE'S GOING ACROSS THE CROSSWALK AND IT LIGHTS UP.

WE ONLY HAVE ONE THAT I CAN THINK OF.

YEAH. WHY DO WE ONLY HAVE ONE? I MEAN, IT'S GREAT. WE COULD WE HAVE MORE BECAUSE I KNOW.

YEAH.

AND WE NEED TO HAVE BE BETTER TO HAVE FIVE.

THERE'S A THERE'S A NAME FOR THEM AND I'M COMPLETELY BLANKING ON IT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE DO UTILIZE THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE AROUND SCHOOLS.

OKAY.

BUT BUT I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

SO I JUST DON'T KNOW THE SPECIFIC NAME.

I THINK THAT.

THEY ARE JUST CALLED PROTECTED.

CROSS. YEAH.

THE ONES THAT ARE BY THE CIVIC CENTER.

THAT'S LIKE FLASHING.

IT'S BIG.

YEP, YEP.

THE SCHOOL CROSSING.

IT'S JUST ONE LITTLE LIGHT THAT FLASHES TO TELL YOU TO GO 20 AND YOU CAN GO BACK 30.

WELL, I'M THINKING I SEE.

CROSSWALKS AT SOME OF THE SCHOOLS THAT WE HAVE AT CROSSWALKS NEARBY.

THEY HAVE FLASHING OKAY.

I HAVE SEEN THOSE.

THEY'RE NOT EVERYWHERE. BUT WE DO HAVE SOME OF THEM.

YEAH.

LET'S DO MORE OF THOSE.

THAT'S GREAT.

ALL RIGHT. SO WE'VE GOT THAT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT GENERAL JUST ENGAGEMENT AND INFORMATION FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES GETTING THEM TO SAFE PLACES IN TIMES OF EMERGENCY.

WHAT'S OUR PLAN FOR THAT AND HOW WE WHETHER IT'S A WARMING STATION OR MAYBE SOME OTHER SOMETHING ELSE IN THE TIME OF EMERGENCY.

WE'VE GOT MORE INFORMATION ON JUST AN UPDATE ON JUST DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND OTHER SERVICES AND THEN LOOP TO 88.

I THINK YOU MENTIONED THAT JUST KIND OF WHERE ARE THEY AT NOW? THEY'VE BEEN OPEN FOR ABOUT WE'LL HAVE BEEN OPEN FOR ABOUT A YEAR.

[00:45:03]

OKAY.

ONE MORE.

THING. YEAH.

OKAY. WHO DOES THE ENGAGE DENTON APP.

AND COULD THEY COME TALK TO US ABOUT WHAT ALL OF THE THINGS ARE THAT ARE BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE THAT'S SUCH A GREAT SERVICE THAT'S BEING UNDERUTILIZED AND PEOPLE JUST DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT.

THEY DON'T. AND IT IS.

JUST KIND OF A WALK THROUGH THE APP.

YEAH.

SO AND MAYBE WE COULD FORMULATE SOME RECOMMENDATIONS TO TRY AND GET LIKE PEOPLE CONNECTED LIKE WITH THE WINTER ADVISORY THINGS.

IT'S GOOD I'LL SAY WELL WITH ON THAT.

SO DO WE HAVE AND PLEASE EXCUSE ME.

SO KIND OF NEW IN THIS PART OF IT.

DO WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER LIST OF PEOPLE? I MEAN, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WARMING STATIONS.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT CHECKING IN ON PEOPLE DURING.

DO WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER LIST THAT THEY CAN STOP BY OR CALL THESE INDIVIDUALS WHEN WE'RE HAVING THESE YURI WINTER STORMS AND THINGS? SO SO.

WE.

YES AND NO.

WE UTILIZE THE COUNTY CERT TEAM IN AN EMERGENCY.

SO THOSE THAT'S A READY MADE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ARE TRAINED FOR KIND OF ALL HAZARDS, BUT A LIST OF FOLKS SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT PURPOSE? WELL, NO, A LIST OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD NEED TO GET THAT CALL AND CHECK IN ON A VOLUNTEER LIST TO SAY, HEY, I'LL GO ON THE LIST AND YOU CAN.

THAT WAY THEY GO, HEY, IS EVERYTHING OKAY? DO YOU NEED ANYTHING? WE DON'T.

I DON'T KNOW IF ANOTHER ENTITY WOULD LET ME CHECK IN ON THAT.

CONRAD. YEAH, WE.

TALKED ABOUT THAT.

YEAH.

WELL, CODE RED IS HOW WE WOULD GET.

THE MESSAGE OUT, BUT WE DON'T HAVE A LIST OF FOLKS.

I DON'T THINK WE HAVE A LIST OF FOLKS.

THERE'S A REGISTRATION.

YOU HAVE TO REGISTER. YOU DON'T.

YOU CAN'T REGISTER.

I THOUGHT YOU HAD TO REGISTER, LIKE, PRETTY REGULARLY, WHICH SEEMED LIKE.

YEAH, IT'S LIKE A ANNUALLY, LIKE.

ALL ABOUT THAT, BECAUSE.

WE.

MIGHT WRITE THAT IN THAT DISCUSSION.

WE HAVE APPROXIMATE WAYS, LIKE ANYONE WHO IS EITHER PEOPLE WHO ARE SIGNED UP TO USE OUR SERVICE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, PEOPLE WHO ARE SIGNED UP.

THERE'S A PROGRAM WITH OUR UTILITY BILLING THAT YOU HAVE, LIKE A MEDICAL DEVICE.

YOU KNOW, WE WE DO NOT JUST GO AND DISCONNECT FOR NONPAYMENT.

IT'S A LONGER PROCESS.

BUT LET ME ASK IT.

THAT'S ALL THOSE THINGS COMBINED.

YEAH.

ENGAGE DIDN'T ACT LIKE THAT MIGHT BE A USEFUL WAY TO CONNECT THOSE PEOPLE.

GOING TO.

IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE OUR ISSUE IN THE WINTER IS THE FACT THAT WE SHUT DOWN EVERY TIME THERE'S AN ICE STORM.

AND IF WE HAD A WAY THAT WE COULD GET OUR ROADS SO PEOPLE COULD GET ON THEM, WE WOULDN'T HAVE THESE ISSUES.

I MEAN, I UNDERSTAND THAT WE'RE A SOUTHERN STATE AND THAT, YOU KNOW, WE DON'T HAVE THINGS LIKE THEY DO IN THE NORTH AND EVERYTHING, BUT IT JUST SEEMS TO ME THAT THAT IS THE ONLY SOLUTION, BECAUSE HOW HOW DO THEY GET TO THE WARMING CENTERS? OKAY. THEN YOU HAVE A BUS.

IT GOES, BABY GOES AND PICKS PEOPLE UP AND BRINGS THEM TO THE.

WELL, HOW DOES THE BUS GET AROUND? DON'T THEY SHUT DOWN CAPITAL METRO? I THINK IT SEEMS LIKE THEY DO SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

THEY'LL ONLY SHUT DOWN THE BUSSES IF THEY CAN'T SAFELY DRIVE.

RIGHT, I MY EXPERIENCE.

YEAH, YEAH.

SO IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE THE ONLY SOLUTION IS FOR US TO DO SOMETHING SO WE CAN TRAVEL ON THE ROADS WHEN THERE'S AN ICE STORM.

AND IT MIGHT BE, YOU KNOW, MAYBE THERE IS A WAY TO HAVE VOLUNTEERS FROM NEIGHBORHOODS OR SOMETHING LIKE CHECK IN WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS IF WE KNEW WHO WAS THERE.

YOU KNOW.

THAT'S THAT'S ANOTHER WAY.

THAT'S A GOOD IDEA, BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE A VOLUNTEER LIST THAT PEOPLE SAY, YES, I'LL BE ON THE LIST.

AND THEN PART OF THAT IS SOME KIND OF OTHER CONTACT, THAT NEIGHBOR YOU TRUST THAT WILL SAY, YEAH, HEY, WE CAN'T HEAR FROM WE DIDN'T HEAR FROM SO AND SO COULD YOU GO CHECK ON THEM AND GET BACK TO US? YES. YEAH.

THAT'S A GOOD CALL.

ALL RIGHT. WE'LL ADD THAT INTO THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION.

THE LAST THING ON THAT IS THE GETTING GENERATORS TO PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL DEVICES AT HOME IN THE EVENT OF A BLACKOUT.

SO LIKE WHAT RESOURCES.

MIGHT BE.

AVAILABLE. YEAH.

WELL SPECIFICALLY POWER FOR.

YEAH.

WE TRIED THAT. AND I THINK YOU SAID THERE WEREN'T ANY.

YEAH I MEAN THAT WAS A BACK THOUGH.

THERE AREN'T ANY FEDERAL.

PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THAT.

NO. NOTHING AT THE STATE LEVEL EITHER.

THAT'S WHAT THAT'S WHAT WE LOOKED INTO.

SO I IN GENERALLY.

YOU KNOW.

BARRING ANY ROLLING BLACKOUTS, USUALLY IN ANY TYPE OF WINTER STORM FOLKS ARE NOT OUT FOR.

REALLY MORE THAN.

18 HOURS, BECAUSE I THINK THE LAST COUPLE OF STORMS HAS BEEN OUR LONGEST OUTAGE.

BUT WE'LL ADD THAT INTO THE DISCUSSION.

[00:50:02]

OR EVEN I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE, BUT HAVE LIKE AREAS LIKE IF YOU HAVE LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, I MEAN, OBVIOUSLY IT WOULD BE A NEIGHBORHOOD OUTAGE, BUT IF THERE'S LIKE A FOCUS OF PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL DEVICES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, MAYBE JUST.

MAYBE I'LL ADD THEM TO.

THE ROLLING BLACKOUT.

I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S REALLY REALISTIC, BUT.

LIKE, WITH, LIKE, HOSPITALS.

YEAH. WELL, I MEAN, HOSPITAL GRIDS USUALLY ARE PRETTY GOOD, BUT I MEAN, EVEN JUST LIKE SENIOR FACILITIES OR AREAS WHERE THERE'S HIGHER SENIOR POPULATION.

WE WE WE TAKE SENIOR ANY.

DEDICATED FACILITIES LIKE SENIOR FACILITIES.

THOSE ARE WE HAVE THOSE CIRCUITS ISOLATED.

SO LIKE HOSPITALS, CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, WATER TOWERS, THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND THEN SENIOR FACILITIES, WE HAVE THOSE AND WE WE UNLESS IT GETS SUPER BAD AND IF IT GETS SUPER BAD WE CAN TURN IT OFF HOSPITALS, BUT WE DON'T TURN THOSE OFF BUT I.

THIS MAY BE A BETTER QUESTION FOR BOB.

I DON'T KNOW THAT WE COULD ISOLATE IT DOWN TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD LEVEL WITHOUT IT BEING A LIKE A SENIOR LIVING FACILITY TYPE OF PLACE, BECAUSE WE PUT THAT IN. BUT AS PEOPLE MOVE AND COME IN AND OUT, IT'S A FLUID, YOU KNOW, WHO LIVES THERE AND WHAT THEIR AGE IS AND THINGS LIKE, IT'S ALWAYS MOVING AND IT'S ALWAYS FLUID.

AND THAT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT'S GOING TO BE ABLE TO.

KEEP TRACK OF. AND THAT WOULD GET BACK TO THAT LIST, VOLUNTEER LIST AND THEN HAVE THAT WHERE YOU SEE A CONCENTRATION.

OF PEOPLE.

YEAH, I MEAN, THAT WOULD GIVE.

US GOOD INFORMATION FOR SURE.

YEAH.

OKAY.

SO LET'S SEE ENGAGE DENTON AND THEN LOOPING IN THE VOLUNTEER LIST CONCEPT TO THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION.

HAVE I MISSED ANYTHING.

WE'RE JUST GOING TO KEEP GOING.

I'LL JUST BE LIKE, OKAY, YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB.

WHEN WE BRING IT BACK IN JANUARY, I'LL LIST IT AND MAYBE WHAT I THINK IS A GOOD PRIORITY ORDER.

JUST KIND OF BASED ON THE DISCUSSION HERE.

AND Y'ALL CAN TELL ME, LET'S MOVE UP.

LET'S MOVE THAT DOWN.

AND THEN SOME THINGS WORK BETTER IN CERTAIN SEASONS.

SO YOU KNOW OBVIOUSLY WE DON'T WANT TO HIT.

PROBABLY HIT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DURING THE WINTER OR IT GOES ON ANY TIME.

LUKE 288. PROBABLY SPRINGTIME IS GOOD WHEN THEY'RE A LITTLE CALMER.

THEY'RE NOT QUITE AS BUSY, BUT I THINK THIS IS THIS COULD FILL THE YEAR RIGHT HERE, ALONG WITH THE OTHER STUFF THAT WE DO KIND OF ROUTINELY.

SO GOOD.

YEAH. AND I MIGHT JUST BRING IT BACK KIND OF IN A.

IT'S GOING TO CHANGE, BUT BRINGING BACK KIND OF IN THE CALENDAR, HEY, MAYBE THESE IN JANUARY, THESE IN MARCH, THESE IN MAY.

AND IT'LL MOVE AROUND BUT IT'LL GIVE US A STARTING POINT.

OKAY. AND ARE YOU ALL GOOD TO, TO KIND OF LOCK IT DOWN AND VOTE ON IT.

AND IN JANUARY IN THAT MEETING.

YES. I'LL MAKE SURE A FEW OF THESE THINGS ARE OUR JANUARY MEETING, BUT.

RIGHT.

COOL. ALL RIGHT. OKAY. ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT. OKAY.

THAT'S THAT'S IT THEN.

RUN THE STAFF UP THERE. OH, YEAH.

[F. Staff General Update Memo]

I'M SORRY.

WE DO HAVE A COUPLE OF STAFF UPDATES, AND I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF CONCLUDING ITEMS THAT YOU WEREN'T HERE FOR THAT I'LL MENTION.

SO THIS IS YOUR NORMAL STAFF UPDATE MEMO, BUT I JUST WANT TO HIGHLIGHT ONE THING RIGHT THERE.

SO AS PART OF THE BOND PROGRAM ON THE NOVEMBER 7TH ELECTION, AN INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND WAS PART OF THE PARK SERVICES PROPOSITION WHICH PASSED.

SO THIS PLAYGROUND WILL LIKELY BE LOCATED SOMEWHERE IN THE NORTH LAKES PARK AREA.

AND THERE'S A LOT OF STUFF THAT HAS TO HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN.

YOU KNOW, WE HAVE TO GO, YOU KNOW, SECURE THE FUNDING, START DESIGN BEFORE IT ACTUALLY IS BUILT AND OPEN.

BUT I HAVE ALREADY HAD CONVERSATIONS WITH THE PARK DIRECTOR ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO PARTICULARLY DESIGN AND UPDATES AND CONSTRUCTION, THAT YOU GUYS ARE LOOPED IN REGULARLY AS PART OF THAT DESIGN PROCESS.

I KNOW IT'LL BE A PRETTY WIDE GROUP THAT THEY'LL WANT TO GET INPUT FROM.

SO AS MUCH AS WE CAN INVOLVE THE GREATER COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THAT DISCUSSION, THE BETTER.

BUT I'VE ALREADY SET IN MOTION THAT THIS GROUP WOULD PLAY A SIGNIFICANT PART, AS THAT INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND BECOMES CLOSER AND CLOSER TO REALITY.

SO THE GOOD NEWS IS THERE'S FUNDING.

IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. YOU KNOW, TIMELINE IS TBD, BUT THAT'S SOMETHING THE VOTERS SAID THAT YES, WE WANT THAT AND LET'S GO AND DO IT.

SO I JUST WANTED YOU GUYS TO IF YOU WEREN'T KEEPING TRACK OF THE BOND ELECTION, THAT'S WHERE IT LANDED.

SO. AND THAT IS.

MY MAIN UPDATE.

[3. CONCLUDING ITEMS]

I DO HAVE A COUPLE CONCLUDING ITEMS, MR. CHAIR, THAT YOU WEREN'T HERE FOR.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THEM.

SO, MR. CHAIR, WE I DID MENTION TO THE GROUP THAT THE COUNCIL GAVE DIRECTION TO CONDENSE THE SIZE OF THE COMMITTEE TO SEVEN PEOPLE.

[00:55:03]

SO WE HAVE AN EASIER TIME MAKING QUORUM, AND THAT WILL TAKE EFFECT LIKELY BY THE JANUARY MEETING.

AND WE ALSO HAVE A WE'LL BE HAVING A NEW LIAISON ON MOVING TO THE AIRPORT, DENTON AIRPORT.

AND SO SOMEONE ELSE FROM THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE, TBD, ALSO WILL JOIN ME IN THE JANUARY MEETING AND THEN PROBABLY TAKE OVER BEGINNING WITH THAT MARCH MEETING.

SO I THINK I'VE BEEN WITH YOU GUYS SINCE THE BEGINNING IN SOME WAY, SHAPE OR FORM SINCE THE FIRST MEETING, AND IT WAS KIND OF A RODEO.

THOSE FIRST FEW MEETINGS.

WERE YOU THERE FOR THAT VOW AND YOU WERE THERE? ALISON WAS THERE TOO.

WHAT? YEAH.

YOU WERE THE OG MEMBERS.

THE WILD WEST DAYS OF THOSE FIRST MEETINGS? YES, YES.

BUT I'VE REALLY ENJOYED THE LAST YEAR, FOUR YEARS WITH YOU GUYS.

YEAH.

THE LITTLE BREAK IN THERE FOR COVID.

BUT I'LL BE MOVING ON.

BUT YOU'LL BE IN GOOD HANDS WITH EITHER MONICA OR CARLOTTA OR THE NEW CHIEF OF STAFF, WHO WILL HOPEFULLY BE HIRED IN JANUARY.

SO.

OKAY.

THAT'S ALL I GOT.

WISH YOU WELL.

GOOD LUCK. WE'LL MISS YOU.

THANK YOU FOR PUTTING.

UP WITH US. YEAH.

I'M RECOMMENDING WE ADJOURN FOR THE.

SOUNDS GOOD.

ALL RIGHT. OKAY. WE'RE ADJOURNED.

ALL RIGHT. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
